Multivalency for Modularity: A Versatile Adhesive with Cooperatively Activated Fast Dismantlability
Source abstract
Abstract
We designed an AB-type adhesive based on poly(benzyl ether) that cures upon mixing with various azides. Benefiting from the multivalent binding motifs generated upon “curing”, this system shows high binding strength (up to >11 MPa in lap-shear strength) and waterproofness with azide “modules” ensuring optimized performance for different surfaces. The adhesive’s dismantlability was governed by two cooperative stimuli, ensuring reliability and toughness of the adhesion without compromising debonding responsiveness.
