3D Printing with Light for Personalized Drug Delivery Systems and Medical Devices
Source abstract
Abstract
Three-dimensional (3D) printing has the potential to transform healthcare by allowing personalized treatments tailored to the specific needs of individual patients. Light-based 3D printing, which utilizes versatile polymerization techniques, enables the fabrication of materials with precise chemical, optical, mechanical, and physical properties, achieving high resolution and customization. This review explores recent advancements in light-based 3D printing technologies for personalized healthcare applications, with a focus on drug delivery systems (DDSs) and medical devices. It also discusses the scientific challenges, limitations, and opportunities associated with adopting these techniques. As the field continues to expand, understanding these dynamics becomes essential for advancing the application of 3D printing in medicine.
