Abstract

The synthesis of the Ti 3 C 2 T x /PMo 12 hybrid nanomaterial is a major achievement in the design of a high-performance lithium-ion battery (LIB) as an anode material for next-generation batteries. By employing a simple calcination method, polyoxomolybdate (PMo 12 ) is integrated with MXene (Ti 3 C 2 T x ), producing a hybrid material that combines and exploits the complementary properties of both constituents. The battery-like behavior stemming from the highly reversible electrochemical reactions of Mo-based transition-metal ions complements the surface-redox nature of MXene, resulting in a synergistic effect that enhances the overall lithium (Li + ) storage capabilities. The performance of this hybrid nanomaterial is due to the carefully engineered crystal framework. The electrostatic attraction and self-organization properties of polyoxomolybdate anions play a crucial role in facilitating effective intercalation with the MXene layers, leading to improved ion transport and storage. This optimized composite demonstrates remarkable Li + storage characteristics, including a high specific capacity of 1605 mAh g –1 at 0.1 A g –1, a good cycling performance at high current density (800 cycles at 0.5 A g –1 ), and an impressive electrochemical rate capability. These results highlight the potential of engineered MXene-based hybrid nanomaterials in advancing energy storage devices, paving the way for the development of next-generation LIBs with superior electrochemical capacity, long-term stability, and improved performance.
