Abstract

The effects of topological semimetal MoP nanosheets and MoP quantum dots as saturable absorbers on Er-doped lasers were investigated. Experimental results revealed a modulation depth of 3.2% and a pulse width of 1.31 ps when MoP nanosheets were employed as the saturable absorber. In contrast, MoP quantum dots exhibit superior performance, achieving a modulation depth of 17.2% and compressing the output mode-locking pulse width to 668 fs. Furthermore, a simulation model was developed to validate the consistency of the mode-locking output characteristics of MoP saturable absorbers with the experimental findings. Those results indicate potential application prospects for MoP nanomaterials in future ultrafast optics.
