Abstract

In pursuit of sufficient utilization of the backward light emission of quantum-dot (QD) material, we propose a metallodielectric composite reflector with wavelength-dependent transmittance and reflectance based on a monolayer of silver nanoparticles and a titanium dioxide (TiO2) coating layer to improve the light extraction of a QD film. The transmission and reflection properties of the reflector can be tailored by adjusting the diameter of the silver nanoparticles and the thickness of the TiO2 coating. By incorporating this reflector into a QD-enhanced white-light-emitting diode, we demonstrate a radiant flux enhancement of 19.5%.
