MoS 2 Fullerenes and WS 2 Nanotubes for Hydrogen Evolution in Alkaline Media
Source abstract
Abstract
Crystalline MoS 2 fullerenes and WS 2 nanotubes have been synthesized via a straightforward, template- and catalyst-free procedure. The MoS 2 fullerenes and WS 2 nanotubes were characterized by electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and other techniques. MoS 2 fullerenes and WS 2 nanotubes have been used as catalysts to study the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction in an alkaline medium. MoS 2 fullerenes achieved a current density of 500 mA cm –2 at an overpotential of 435 mV vs RHE, whereas WS 2 nanotubes reached the same current density at an overpotential of 418 mV vs RHE.
