PtNi Nanoparticles on V2C MXene as Hydrazine Dehydrogenation Catalysts
Source abstract
Abstract
Specifically, PtNi supported on V2C was used to test the catalytic activity of hydrazine hydrate in this paper, and PtNi/V2C showed the great activity and selectivity for hydrazine hydrate dehydrogenation. PtNi/V2C catalyst for hydrazine hydrate dehydrogenation was prepared by the reduction of Pt2+ and Ni2+ to V2C by a simple co-reduction method. It was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and a series of dehydrogenation tests of hydrazine hydrate were carried out. The reasons for the high-efficiency catalysis of PtNi/V2C were explored. The ultrafine PtNi nanoparticles with the size of 2.8 nm can be well dispersed on the surface of the catalyst carrier, thus avoiding the accumulation of PtNi nanoparticles. This special nano-catalytic system has positive decomposition properties for N2H4·H2O. The optimal Pt0.3Ni0.7/V2C showed good catalytic performance. Under mild conditions, the corresponding time-of-flight value could reach 802 h–1, and the hydrogen selectivity was 100%. This prominent catalytic performance is due to the mild interaction of nanoparticles, which stabilizes the good dispersion of nanoparticles, and leaves enough surface active sites to promote the catalytic reaction. The V2C prepared in this work can be used to design other types of hydrogen production catalysts with similar morphology to the nanoreactor.
