Nanometer-Thick Sol–Gel Silica–Titania Film Infused with Superparamagnetic Fe3O4 Nanoparticles for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding
Source abstract
Abstract
A synthetic approach to highly transparent magnetic nanocomposite thin film by incorporating magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles (NPs) into silica–titania (SixTi1–xO2–y, STO) film in a low-temperature sol–gel process (∼90 °C) is presented in this study. The optical transmittance of Fe3O4–STO nanocomposite films with a NP concentration of 1–30 wt % is between 99% and 86% at 550 nm. The transparent film possesses a magnetization value as high as 12 emu/g at 0.5 T and exhibits an electromagnetic interference shielding response in the range of 2.6–18 GHz. The highly transparent magnetic thin film with nanometer thickness is derived using the sol–gel method with advantages of low-temperature, feasibility, and cost-effective process, which is promising in practical applications.
