Abstract

An unprecedent one-pot photochemical method for the preparation of water-soluble and photothermal nanosized Cobalt (II/III) -oxide nanoparticles capped with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD/Co 3 O 4 ) is here reported. This nanomaterial showed the ability to trigger a photothermal-induced enzymatic reaction and in situ formation of gold nanoparticles. High water solubility and good photothermal conversion efficiency in a wide wavelength range make the β-CD/Co 3 O 4 nanoparticles promising candidates for photothermal applications in the biomedical field.
