MoSSe Nanosheet-Based Saturable Absorbers for Stable Mode-Locking Pulse Tuning in Ultrafast Fiber Lasers
Source abstract
Abstract
With the development of nanomaterials, the demand for a saturable absorber (SA) in fiber lasers continues to increase. Ternary transition metal dichalcogenides MoSSe provides an SA option for the development of a mode-locking fiber laser. As we know, the application of MoSSe-SA in mode-locking fiber lasers has not been fully explored. In this work, a variety of interesting soliton pulses were achieved in the erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) by using MoSSe-SA. The modulation depth and saturation intensity of MoSSe-SA are 9.4% and 18.6 MW/cm 2, respectively. Conventional solitons (CS) were achieved at net dispersion values of −0.166 ps 2, −0.394 ps 2, −0.704 ps 2, −0.827 ps 2, −1.265 ps 2, and −2.179 ps 2 by using MoSSe-SA to modulate the EDFL. The max fundamental frequency and 3 dB bandwidth of the CS are 23.48 MHz and 7.91 nm, with a theoretical pulse width of 324 fs. In addition to this, the changing states of Q-switching mode-locking and the harmonic mode-locking up to the 101st order were obtained at the net dispersion value of −0.827 ps 2 . Stable and controllable multisoliton pulses show that MoSSe may be an efficient modulator for generating laser pulses.
