Abstract

To address the critical challenge of severe charge carrier recombination and insufficient utilization during photocatalytic H 2 production, in this work, a MoS 2 /SnS 2 /TiO 2 Schottky/S-scheme integrated heterojunction with charge storage capability was prepared using a hydrothermal method combined with physical solvent evaporation. Experimental findings indicate that integrated MoS 2 /SnS 2 /TiO 2 heterojunction achieves a photocatalytic H 2 production rate of 4713.8 μmol·g –1 ·h –1 under visible light irradiation in a 20% vol triethanolamine (TEOA) aqueous solution, which is 40.8 and 67.5 times higher than that of TiO 2 and MoS 2 /SnS 2 heterojunction. Besides, this system exhibits remarkable stability during cyclic experiments. The charge separation mechanism and carrier storage characteristics of the system were validated through electrochemical measurements, XPS analysis, PL spectroscopy characterization and density functional theory (DFT). It was found that MoS 2 as H 2 evolution cocatalyst can reduce the overpotential for H 2 generation, MoS 2 /SnS 2 can enhance decrease charge transfer resistance, promote carriers separation, increase active sites, they collectively facilitates faster H 2 -releasing kinetics. This research proposes an innovative strategy for constructing a highly efficient photocatalytic system that integrates effective charge storage and separation.
