Abstract

High Resolution Image Download MS PowerPoint Slide Nanorobot development is at the frontier of advancing multiple fields, including biomedicine, oil recovery, environmental remediation, and crack detection and repair. The ability of nanorobots to impact these fields is dependent upon their ability to undergo varied modes of motion and the ability to finely control each mode based on the needed function. In this work we present a nanorobotic system that can produce multiple unique modes of motion with an unprecedented level of independent control over each component mode. These modes are generated by leveraging a dual ultrasonic–magnetic field actuation approach. Utilizing this approach, we also demonstrate the independent control of the spatial positioning and the mode of motion of the nanorobots. The nanorobotic system described is biocompatible which opens the door for its use in applications in the medical field. We present the use of this system for the removal of obstructions within model capillary vessels.
