Abstract

Carbon/carbon composite materials, as electromagnetic wave-absorbing (EWA) materials, have been widely studied due to their excellent impedance matching and high dielectric loss. In this work, we introduced amorphous carbon into the TaC nanowire (TaC nws ) matrix, effectively optimizing impedance matching. The inclusion of amorphous carbon introduces a substantial quantity of imperfections and interfaces, thereby promoting polarization. The multipolarization loss and magnetic loss mechanism generate electromagnetic synergistic loss effects, significantly improving the attenuation performance of EW. The TaC nws /C sample exhibits exceptional EWA performance, achieving a minimum reflection loss (RL min ) of −54.25 dB and an effective absorption bandwidth (EAB) of 3.6 GHz at a low thickness of merely 1.4 mm. This study presents a novel methodology for the future fabrication of TMC composite materials, thereby holding substantial research implications.
