Abstract

Front cover image: Rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries (ZIBs) are reputed as the promising alternatives for grid-scale energy storage. However, zinc dendrites and side reactions of zinc anode severely challenged the practical application of ZIBs. In the article number cey2.343, Huang and co-workers reported a unique surface engineering strategy by growing vertically stacked graphdiyne nanowalls (VSGDY) ion-oriented channel on zinc metal. Benefiting from the unique structure and abundant interactive sites, the VSGDY ion-oriented channel can trap/free zinc ions reversibly, inducing a segmented zinc deposition, forming a grid zinc interface, suppressing the formation of Zn dendrites.
