Abstract

Front cover image: Efficient CO2 electrolysis requires fuel electrodes that maintain high catalytic activity and resist carbon coking. However, the influence of guest alloying elements in Ni-based electrodes has not been systematically compared. In article number CEY270130, Oh et al. investigate Fe-, Co-, and Cu-alloyed Ni/YSZ electrodes fabricated by pulsed laser deposition. The study reveals that Cu-Ni alloying achieves the best balance of electrochemical activity and coking resistance. This work highlights a rational strategy for designing durable, high-performance SOEC fuel electrodes for CO2 electrolysis.
