Abstract

Adjusting the hydrocarbons selectivity remains a big challenge for Fischer–Tropsch synthesis (FTS). Hollow ZSM-5 zeolite nanoparticles with adjustable acidity are synthesized, which combine with Fe3O4@MnO2 to convert syngas directly into aromatics-rich gasoline, exhibiting an excellent selectivity of 73.5% for gasoline-range hydrocarbons with 52.8% aromatics in it, at CO conversion of about 70.0%. The tandem catalyst displays the stable state for 100 h. Both Lewis and Brönsted acid sites of hollow zeolite nanoparticles are adjusted precisely for catalyzing the oligomerization of light hydrocarbons and cracking of heavy hydrocarbons, leading to the enrichment of hydrocarbons to gasoline. Especially, the Brönsted acid sites play crucial roles in promoting aromatics production. Besides, the created hollow cavities in zeolite nanoparticles accelerate the diffusion of gasoline products, improving the catalytic stability. The tandem catalyst presents a good potential for industrial applications in the FTS field.
