Abstract
The Japanese Ministry of International Trade and Industry has decided to seek budgetary support for a new National R&D Project entitled Ultimate Manipulation of Atoms and Molecules with the aim of contributing to the international community through R&D in the field of basic science and technology. The new project is to be carried out at a new AIST institute named Interdisciplinary Research Institute for Industrial Science (IRIS) to be established on the 1st of January 1993, in Tsukuba, Japan.
