Abstract In his personal outlook, the author cautions against unscientific and biased views when assessing the future progress of nanoscience and nanotechnology. Several examples of nanotechnological innovations are cited that demonstrate the power and potential of this technology. The author concludes with an appeal to better educate the public about the potential benefits and dangers of nanotechnology.
