CeO2/Ti3C2Tx MXene Nanostructures for Microwave Absorption
Source abstract
Abstract
In this paper, a two-dimensional MXene loaded with CeO2 nanoparticles was successfully synthesized through a simple solvothermal sintering method. The nanocomposite obtained by mixing the CeO2/Ti3C2Tx MXene with paraffin at 30 wt % has a high reflection loss of −47.27 dB at a thickness of 1.9 mm and an effective absorption bandwidth of up to 4.22 GHz which is higher than that of a similar absorbing system. By adjusting the composition ratio and the thickness of the system, almost all S, C, X, and Ku bands can be covered. Its excellent performance benefits from the abundant oxygen vacancies brought by CeO2 nanoparticles in which Ce3+ and Ce4+ ions coexist and the rich microinterfaces brought by the CeO2–C–Ti3C2Tx sandwich structure. In addition, CeO2/Ti3C2Tx MXene nanocomposites also have high thermal stability. This research extends the thought on the design of high-performance microwave-absorbing materials.
