Behavior analysis of reinforced pervious concrete with nano silica and plastics under static, cyclic, and impact loads
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract This research delves into the response of nano silica and recycled plastic-reinforced pervious concrete (RPC) to static, cyclic, and impact stresses. The overarching objective is to make pervious concrete a more sustainable structural material by improving its mechanical and durability characteristics without sacrificing its permeability. To make it stronger and survive longer, we added nano silica. To make it more energy absorbent, we used recycled plastics as a lightweight reinforcement. Tests including static compression, cyclic fatigue, and high-strain-rate impacts on RPC specimens combined with different ratios of nano silica and polymers were the primary experimental research focus. Results prove that the addition of nano silica significantly improved compressive strength and cyclic loading resistance; while plastic assistance improved ductility and impact energy absorption. In this regard, study highlights the prospect of synergistically utilising conventional cementless binder systems with novel additives to achieve high-performance concrete that advances sustainable and resilient construction.
