Tunable micro-morphology and visible-light response property of worm-like monoclinic BiVO4
Source abstract
Abstract
Using sol-gel auto-combustion method, monoclinic bismuth vanadate (m-BiVO 4 ) nano-powder was successfully prepared and the influence of sol precursor’s pH value on performances of m-BiVO 4 was thoroughly investigated. X-ray diffractions (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflection spectrum (UV-vis) analytic methods were used to characterize phases, microstructure and visible-light response properties of samples in order to understand the influence of pH value. The study results show that precursor’s pH value obviously influences the microstructure and visible-light response performance of m-BiVO 4 nano-powder, i.e., the morphology of m-BiVO 4 can be controlled by adjusting the precursor’s pH value. When the pH value equals 9, the appearance of nano-powder is worm-like shape which disperses well and has great visible-light response performance.
