Substitution effect on the thermoelectric properties of alkaline earth titanate
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract Thermoelectric properties of Sr 0.9− x Ca x La 0.1 TiO 3 have been investigated from room temperature to 873 K and compared with those of the Ba-substituted system. The cell volume decreased linearly with the Ca concentration and the structure changed from cubic to tetragonal and orthorhombic. Ca substitution increased the figure of merit especially at low temperature. Sr 0.45 Ca 0.45 La 0.1 TiO 3 had highest dimensionless figure of merit and the value reached 0.22 at 873 K. The improvement of the figure of merit was more effective compared to the Ba substitution. The advantage of Ca substitution was discussed and attributed to the decreased dielectric constant.
