Asynchronous crystallization behavior of Co-rich droplets in phase-separated Cu–Co alloys

Abstract Rapid crystallization behavior of dispersed Co-rich droplets in undercooled and phase-separated Cu–Co alloys was in-situ observed using a high-speed camera. Several recalescence spots appear on the sample surface in sequence, showing asynchronous crystallization of the Co-rich droplets. Being consistent with this finding, the crystallized Co-rich droplets indicate a broad distribution of chemical composition and two types of substructures.
