Abstract

Abstract Alumina coatings, deposited on metallic substrates by two thermal spraying techniques, were tested against sintered alumina in a pin-on-disc tribometer. The wear mechanics involved were investigated with respect to the microstructural characteristics of the coatings. The denser Al2O3 coatings presented higher wear resistance than the more porous ones.
