Abstract

Abstract 3D interconnective porous Al 2 O 3 ceramics were produced using a direct protein forming method and evaluated by measuring the density, porosity and pore size distribution, and mechanical properties. Two proteins were used including egg white protein and whey protein isolate. In comparison to the whey protein isolate foamed Al 2 O 3 ceramics, the egg white protein foamed Al 2 O 3 ceramics had a higher compressive strength and narrower pore size distribution. The differences are attributed to the different foaming stability of two proteins.
