Abstract

With good safety, high energy density, abundant resource reserves, and environmental friendliness, zinc‐ion battery is an energy system with great development potential. However, the anode of this battery system suffers from problems such as corrosion passivation, dendrite growth, and electrode deconstruction, which limit its practical application. In this article, a sodium alginate‐modified electrolyte is proposed, which can inhibit the interfacial side reaction of the anode by improving the solvation effect of zinc ions in the electrolyte and constructing the hydrophobic interface structure. The symmetrical battery of sodium alginate system maintains a stable cycle for more than 450 h under the conditions of current density of 1.0 mA cm −2 and specific capacity of 1.0 mAh cm −2 . The cyclic polarization overvoltage remains basically unchanged, and the overpotential is 33.17 mV. The Coulomb efficiency is above 99.5%, and the average specific capacity of the full battery cycle in the stable working range is nearly 30% higher than that of the bare zinc group. This work achieves stabilizing zinc anodes and provides promising insights for the stability of zinc anode.
