Abstract

To conveniently construct an electrochemical non-enzymatic glucose sensor, Mn2O3 porous microsheets are utilized as electrode materials in glucose detection. Mn2O3 porous microsheets have been prepared by a facile chemical precipitation procedure. The Mn2O3 porous microsheets possess a uniform porous structure, which display a nitrogen adsorption–desorption surface area of 38.6 m2/g and the average pore diameter of 16.0 nm. The pores on the Mn2O3 porous microsheets afford large specific surface area. Electrochemical tests reveal that the Mn2O3 porous microsheets electrode possesses a remarkable capability in glucose detection. Mn2O3 porous microsheets electrode shows a wide response range (20 ~ 1.90 mM) and a high glucose detection sensitivity up to 6000 μA mM−1 cm−2. Moreover, the value of detection limit is 12 μM (S/N = 3). The anti-interference and stability tests prove that the Mn2O3 porous microsheets electrode possesses satisfactory selectivity and excellent stability. These results indicate the Mn2O3 porous microsheets electrode is potential for developing the non-enzymatic detecting devices.
