PREFACE

Every year the European community interested in the broad branch of science dealing with multiphase disperse flows convenes at ILASS conferences.The scientific and industrial communities share ideas, information, and technical advances in liquid atomization and spray systems.The 2020 European ILASS conference was planned to be held in September in Israel.The fast-spreading COVID-19 pandemic led to worldwide social rules that posed serious restrictions on public meetings.The European ILASS Board decided to hold a virtual Conference in a different format instead.Due to the inevitable time shortage the ILASS Board asked us to arrange a single-day virtual Conference.In addition, Prof. Günter Brenn, the European Chief Editor of the Atomization and Sprays Journal, kindly suggested publishing a special issue of high-quality papers that were submitted for presentation to the originally planned Conference.
