Layered Marigold-Flower-like CdS/MoS2-rGO Nanocomposite as an Efficient Electrode Material for a Supercapacitor
Source abstract
Abstract
The hydrothermal technique was used to develop the marigold flower-like CdS/MoS 2 -rGO nanocomposite material. The obtained CdS/MoS 2 heterostructure exhibits consistent growth of a bunch of MoS 2 nanoflowers randomly arranged on the thin surface of the rGO nanosheets and thick densely packed CdS nanosheets grown around the MoS 2 nanoflowers. The CdS/MoS 2 -rGO composite material demonstrated symmetric (SSC) supercapacitor performance, achieving a capacitance of 102 F g –1 at a 0.1 A g –1 current density. The most noteworthy outcome of the CdS/MoS 2 -rGO efficient material was used in the fabrication of an asymmetric solid-state supercapacitor (ASSC) cell. The CdS/MoS 2 -rGO ASSC device achieved a maximum energy density of 41.2 Wh kg –1 and a maximum power density of 5.3 kW kg –1 . Additionally, the CdS/MoS 2 -rGO ASSC electrode exhibited a high specific capacitance of 179.5 F g –1 at a current density of 0.5 A g –1 and obtained a highly stable cyclic life while retaining the capacitance of 81.4% up to 10,000 cycles. The red and blue light-emitting diode lights are illuminated by two series-connected asymmetric supercapacitor devices of CdS/MoS 2 -rGO, providing additional evidence of their practical usability. Thus, the CdS/MoS 2 -rGO nanocomposite electrode material is a fruitful way to improve supercapacitor performance.
