STRENGTHENING OF TWO-WAY SLABS USING STEEL PLATES. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE

A discussion of earlier paper with the aforementioned title by U. Ebead and H. Marzouk, published in this journal (Volume 99, Number 1, January-February 2002), is presented. The discusser commends the authors on their paper and agrees that a steel plate would certainly increase the ultimate strength of the control specimen. However, the discusser notes that the authors do not explain the inconsistency between Specimen A1 and Specimen A3 in their research. This point is expanded upon, and closure from the authors is also provided.
