BEHAVIOR OF REINFORCED CONCRETE WALLS WITH WELDED WIRE MESH SUBJECTED TO CYCLIC LOADING. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE

Roy H. Reiterman, Rex Richardson, T A Mize

Abstract

A discussion of an earlier paper with the aforementioned title by P. Riva and A. Franchi, published in this journal (Volume 98, Number 3, May-June 2001), is presented. The discussers note that there are many inconsistencies in comparing different materials and different sizes of materials in the original paper, making its findings somewhat biased towards the authors' 'favorite materials.' There does not seem to be a logical method used for comparing the same materials and sizes with the various strength levels, let alone test methods that conform to ASTM standards. Closure from the authors is provided, responding to these points.
