BEHAVIOR OF LARGE-SCALE REINFORCED CONCRETE BEAMS WITH MINIMUM SHEAR REINFORCEMENT. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE

M Khuntia

Abstract

A discussion of a paper with the aforementioned title by R.J. Frosch, published in this journal (Volume 97, Number 6, November-December 2000), is presented. The discusser commends the author on his efforts in conducting experimental research to predict the shear strength of large-size reinforced concrete (RC) members with minimum stirrups. However, the discusser has some reservations regarding the conclusions arrived at by the author and states that further test results and better explanations are needed. Closure by the author is provided.
