EFFECT OF CONCRETE STRENGTH AND MINIMUM STIRRUPS ON SHEAR STRENGTH OF LARGE MEMBERS. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE
Source abstract
Abstract
A discussion of an earlier paper with the aforementioned title by D. Angelakos, E.C. Bentz, and M.P. Collins, published in this journal (Volume 98, Number 3, May-June 2001), is presented. The discusser commends the authors for conducting a very useful experimental study on the behavior of large-size reinforced concrete (RC) members that includes normal- and high-strength concrete. The discusser agrees with the authors that the present ACI Code provisions on shear strength of RC members are inadequate and adds some additional comments relating to this topic. Closure from the authors is provided.
