CRACK WIDTH PREDICTION USING COMPATIBILITY-AIDED STRUT-AND-TIE MODEL. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE
Source abstract
Abstract
A discussion of an earlier paper with the aforementioned title by R.R.H. Zhu et al., published in this journal (Volume 100, Number 4, July-August 2003), is presented. The aim of the authors' paper is to predict the diagonal crack width at the re-entry corner of dapped ends of bridge girders and the ledges of inverted T-bent caps containing 3 types of reinforcement layout when subjected to vertical loading. The 3 types of reinforcement have 3 different measures of their effectiveness. These were not discussed in the original paper, possibly due to brevity or because the authors did not consider them in their work. Closure is also included.
