Abstract

A discussion of a paper with the aforementioned title by T.Tang, C.Ouyang, and S.P. Shah published in this journal (Volume 93, March-April 1996, page 147) is presented. The discussion focuses on the uncertainty of fracture parameters for concrete. According to the discusser, the determination of material fracture parameters from measured peak loads of different specimens as proposed by the authors is a considerably simpler approach than the compliance method previously used for the two-parameter model. The discussion is followed by closure from the authors.
