Synthesis of CeO2/rGO Nanocomposites by Laser Ablation in Liquid Method and the Characterization for Advanced Materials Development
Source abstract
Abstract
This research investigates the synthesis and characterization of CeO 2 -rGO (cerium oxide-reduced graphene oxide) composites for potential applications.CeO 2 nanoparticles were synthesized using the laser ablation in liquid method (LAL), resulting in well-dispersed, spherical nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution. The composites were fabricated by decorating the CeO 2 nanoparticles onto the surface of reduced graphene oxide (rGO) sheets. The structural and morphological properties of the composites were analyzed using techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS).The results demonstrated the successful combination of CeO 2 nanoparticles with rGO, with CeO 2 nanoparticles stably adsorbed on the rGO sheets. The UV-vis spectra and Tauc plots revealed changes in the absorption peak and band gap, indicating the incorporation of CeO 2 into the rGO structure. The changing of the energy band gap of the CeO 2 -rGO composites was attributed to the synergistic effect between rGO and CeO 2 , improving charge transfer. The research highlights the potential of CeO 2 -rGO composites for applications requiring enhanced electrical properties, opening up possibilities in various fields.
