Abstract

The reflection of a plane harmonic wave propagating in an acoustic fluid and impinging upon a submerged laminated piezoelectric plate is investigated. The dynamic behavior of each lamina is governed by the quasi-static approximation of Max well's equations and by the equations of the linear theory of anisotropic elasticity. The full coupling between electrical and mechanical quantities is considered in the linear consti tutive relations. The continuity conditions along the interfaces between layers are enforced via an invariant imbedding approach. It is shown that for a given frequency, a given angle of incidence of the sound wave in the fluid, and a prescribed electric potential on the sur face of the plate, it is possible to make the reflection coefficient vanish.
