Preparation and electrochemical behaviour of Ti/Mn 2 O 3 coating anode
Source abstract
Abstract
Owing to the excellent electrocatalytic activity, corrosion resistance and high cell potential of the dimensionally stable anodes (DSA), DSAs have great application potential in metallurgical electrolysis industry. In this research, the Ti/Mn 2 O 3 DSA anode was prepared by the thermal decomposition method. The results showed that the composition of the coating is Mn 2 O 3 , and the surface of the Ti/Mn 2 O 3 coating anode is uniform and compact. But there are tiny cracks in the local area of the dense Mn 2 O 3 coating surface, which significantly improves the electrocatalytic activity. The catalytic activity of the Ti/Mn 2 O 3 anode is greater than that of the Pb‐Ag (0.8 wt%) anode in the sulfuric acid solution. The rate‐determining step of both anodes is the rearrangement of intermediates. The accelerated life of Ti/Mn 2 O 3 anode can reach 34 h, which has great application potential in metallurgical electrochemistry.
