Stress corrosion cracking behavior of LSP/MAO treated magnesium alloy during SSRT in a simulated body fluid
Source abstract
Abstract
Abstract The surface of AZ 80 magnesium alloy were modified by three treatment methods, laser shock penning (LSP), micro-arc oxidation (MAO) and the composition of LSP and MAO technology. Slow strain rate tensile (SSRT) testing was performed on different modified specimens in a simulated body fluid (SBF) at strain rate of 5.3 × 10−7 s−1. During SSRT tests, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) tests were also conducted regularly to capture the information related to stress corrosion cracking (SCC). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to observe the fracture morphology of corroded specimens. The SCC behavior is analyzed by the evolution of EIS phase angle. Based on the analysis of microstructure and SCC behavior, the SCC mechanism of LSP/MAO composite coating was proposed.
