Abstract
Cover Photograph: To get a deeper insight into the impact deformation and fracture of glass, dynamic indentation behavior of soda-lime glass was evaluated by using a lab-made free-drop indentation set-up with the coils for detecting electromotive forces. The left-side figure shows snapshots of the high-speed observation during the drop test using a blunt indenter (Elastic condition). (a) The indenter touches the glass surface. (b) The maximum load is applied to the glass. (c) The indenter rebounds from the glass. The times shown between the photos denote the elapsed times. The right-side figure shows snapshots obtained during the drop test using a sharper indenter (Inelastic condition). (a) The indenter touches the glass surface. (b) The moment the crack initiates. (c) The maximum load is applied to the glass. The movies of these drop tests are available in https://doi.org/10.1111/ijag.16682.
