Abstract

Cover Photograph: Top Image: After 1000 C six distinct E-Glass batches containing different raw materials begin batch-to-melt conversion. Prior to 1000 C, each of these six batches remains solid. The images of the six unique E-Glass batches were captured using a High Temperature Melting Observation System with Evolved Gas Analysis (HTMOS-EGA) during the BtM process. The BtM temperatures are as follows: 1065 C, 1059 C, 1081 C, 1059 C, 1065 C, 1059 C, from left to right. Bottom Image: Foaming is a common issue in E-Glass production. The objective of this article is to examine the impact of various SO3 amounts and sources on the formation of foam in E-Glass Batches by using HTMOS-EGA. Due to various SO3 sources, six distinct E-Glass batches demonstrate diverse melt foaming.
