Abstract
The cover photo is the luminescence spectra of various glass ceramics containing Ni 2+ doped nanocrystals. Blue: γ‐Ga 2 O 3 , Green: Mg 2 SiO 4 , Red: Ba 0.808 (Al 1.71 Si 2.29 )O 8 . By controlling the ligand field around Ni 2+ in transparent glass ceramics, it is possible to modulate the wavelength of the near infrared emission which is important for the realization of broadband optical amplification and tunable laser. For further explanation, see “Controlling the Metastable States of Glasses by External Fields” by Jianrong Qiu, this issue. image
