Abstract

Abstract CeO 2 powders were synthesized via a solution combustion method. The product was characterized by X‐ray diffraction scanning electron microscope, and BET surface area analysis. The results indicated that the CeO 2 powders present a foaming state with a surface area of 28.17 m 2 g –1 . The adsorption performance of the CeO 2 powders was tested toward the removal of typical pollutants of Cr(VI) and Congo red (CR). The results showed that the adsorption of Cr(VI) and CR onto CeO 2 powders followed the Langmuir isotherm model and pseudo‐second‐order kinetics, with an adsorption capacity of 5.69 mg g –1 and 35.51 mg g –1 , respectively.
