Influence of Temperature Drop from 1773 K (1500 °C) to 1743 K (1470 °C) on Inclusion of High Carbon Chromium Bearing Steel Melts Treated by RH Vacuum Degassing
Source abstract
Abstract
The influence of temperature drop on inclusions was explored by conducting industrial experiments and thermodynamic calculations. With the temperature dropping from 1773 K (1500 °C) to 1743 K (1470 °C), inclusions were mainly the liquid CaO-Al2O3-(MgO), which were the same as that at the end of RH refining. Thermodynamic calculation indicated that inclusions can be well kept as a liquid state until 1710 K (1437 °C), as solid spinel inclusions would precipitate at 1704 K (1431 °C).
