Ultrahigh Gain, Low Noise, Ultraviolet Photodetectors with Highly Aligned Organic Crystals
Source abstract
Abstract
An organic phototransistor with an ultrahigh gain of 1.1 × 107 is demonstrated, which employs a highly aligned dioctylbenzothienobenzothiophene (C8-BTBT) polycrystalline film as the photoactive layer. This high photodetecting gain reaches the parity of photomultiplier tubes but with tens of times smaller driving voltage. This low noise detector has a noise equivalent power of 14 pW cm−2.
