Sensors: Water Vapor Sensing by Carbon Nanoparticle “Skin” (Adv. Mater. Interfaces 18/2015)
Source abstract
Abstract
In article number 1500244, S. L. Gao and co-workers report on superimposed electrically conductive graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs), which have the appearance of nanoscale ‘fish scales’. A simple and unique deposition method based on fiber-oriented capillary flow is used. Multifunctional carbon nanoparticle ‘skin’ on a single fiber surface is achieved, which enables the measurement of water vapor, relative humidity, the liquid–solid phase transition, and temperature. The overlapping nanoparticle ‘skin’ presents a freezing point far below 0 °C for liquid–solid phase transitions of traces of water on the solid surface.
