Abstract

Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) has considerable potential in a variety of applications, including catalysis, energy storage, and conversion. In this work, Fe3O4/rGO and CoFe2O4/rGO composite aerogels which have the significant synergistic effects that extensively improve the properties of aerogels. The rGO and composite aerogels display a sponge like structure interconnected with macro-pores and extremely wrinkled surfaces of the cell wall. In addition, composite aerogels as anode materials for lithium-ion batteries show better electrochemical performance than pure rGO aerogel. On the initial cycle, capacities of 1189 mAhg(- 1) is delivered by the Fe3O4/rGO aerogel on delithiation, corresponding to a Coulombic efficiency of 77.0%. It is found that the capacity value is 310 mAhg(- 1), after 100 cycles. 1048 mAhg(- 1) of capacity is obtained for CoFe2O4/rGO aerogel in the first cycle, which provides an initial Coulombic efficiency of 57.0%.
