Abstract

In many transport and storage situations, medical packages are exposed to cryogenic conditions. In this article we describe the impact behavior of many of the commonly used medical film materials as a function of tempera ture from about —140 to + 20 ° C. High speed stress-strain data were generated on an instrumented impact tester fitted with a cryogenic sample conditioning chamber. In addition, the observed impact properties were correlated to the Dynamic Mechanical spectrum to provide better understanding of the molec ular basis for physical property behavior.
